As-Salah privacy policy

Last updated: 28 October 2026

As-Salah is an app for prayer times, the adhan and the qibla direction, made by FHMM Labs. This page explains how the app handles your data. In short: everything is calculated and stored on your phone, and we receive no data from you.

What we collect

Nothing. The app has no servers, needs no account or sign-up, and contains no ads, analytics or tracking.

Your location

The app uses your location to calculate prayer times, the qibla direction and the paths of the sun and moon. All of this is calculated on your phone, and your location is stored only on your phone.

  • Location is read only while the app is open. It is never tracked in the background.
  • When you open the app, if you have allowed location, it compares where you are with your saved location, to offer to update the times if you have travelled to another city.
  • To show the name of your city, or when you search for a city by name, the app uses the address lookup service built into your phone's system (Google's on Android, Apple's on iOS), which receives the coordinates or the city name under that company's policy. None of this reaches us.
  • You can choose your city by hand without granting location access.

World prayer times

In Tools there is a page where you add other cities to see their prayer times. To search for a city, the app sends what you type of its name over the internet to the geocoding service of Open-Meteo, which returns the matching cities with their coordinates and time zones. When you add a city, the app asks the service for its name in the other language. Your location and other data about you are not sent, but like any internet connection the service sees your device's IP address, under its own privacy policy. The times are calculated on your phone, and the cities you add are stored only on your phone. This page is the only place where the app itself connects to the internet.

Notifications

The adhan and reminders are local notifications scheduled by the app on your phone; they do not come from a server. If you turn on "Vibrate during prayer" on Android, the app switches your phone to vibrate at the times you choose, then back.

What is stored on your phone

  • Your location and city name.
  • The cities you added to world prayer times.
  • Your settings: calculation method, adhan sounds, reminders and language.
  • Your adhkar progress for the day, and the tasbih count.
  • The last Quran page you read, your bookmarks and your text size.
  • Your Ramadan fasting record: the days you did not fast and the days you made up.
  • What you enter in the zakat calculator (amounts, weights and prices), so it is there when you come back.
  • Sounds you add from your device: copied to your phone's notification sounds folder (Android) or the app's own storage (iOS).

This data never leaves your phone and we cannot see it. If backup is turned on for your phone, the operating system may include it in your backup to your Google or Apple account, according to your settings and that company's policy.

Wear OS watch

If you install the app on a Wear OS watch, your phone sends it the calculation method, madhab, prayer time adjustments, your saved location and your city name, so the watch shows the same times. This data travels directly between your phone and your watch through Google Play's device connection service, and never reaches us. If you allow the watch approximate location, it uses it to calculate the times on the watch itself.

Sharing

When you share the monthly timetable or copy a dua, the app creates the file or text on your phone and opens the system share sheet. You choose where it goes.

Links

The About screen links to the FHMM Labs website and our email address; they open in your phone's apps. The website is covered by the website's privacy policy.

Deleting your data

Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data from your phone. Sounds you added on Android stay in your notification sounds folder, where you can delete them.

Children

The app collects no data from any user, including children.

Changes

If anything changes in how the app handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
